Lesser Horseshoe Surveys
Since the discovery of a hibernating Lesser Horseshoe bat in the Hodder valley area, we are organising surveys to try and identify summer roosts and areas of Lesser Horseshoe activity. The Hodder valley is home to Common Pipistrelle, Soprano Pipistrelle, Noctule, Brown Long Eared and Daubenton's bats so this is also an ideal opportunity for members to learn a bit about bat identification in flight and use of bat detectors. With this in mind we'll be splitting into groups with an experienced surveyor in each group who will be sharing tips on how to use bat detectors, identification etc. Spare detectors will be available so if anyone hasn't got one, don't worry, we should have enough so that everyone can get involved and have a go.
