East Lancashire Bat Group - dedicated to the conservation of Bats.

The East Lancashire Bat Group is dedicated to the conservation of bats in the Boroughs of Blackburn, Ribble, Pendle, Burnley, and Rossendale that make up East Lancashire.

Our membership is open to all with an interest in bats.

 

What do we do?

We aim to help to conserve bats, their roosts and important habitat.

We carry out conservation projects such as bat box schemes.

We aim to monitor, improve and protect roost sites.

We carry out surveys and hold records on bats to build our knowledge of bat distribution in our area.

We aim to improve public awareness of bats and their conservation by hosting bat walks for the public.

The East Lancashire Bat Group consists of volunteers interested in Bat Conservation.

Group membership is spread equally between the boroughs of Blackburn, Ribble, Pendle, Burnley and Rossendale so there's a good chance there is someone local to your area.

The next meeting of the bat group will be on:

21st May at 7.00pm at Towneley Hall, Burnley

After the meeting there will be a Bat Walk and a chance to survey Towneley Park.

 

Where is the venue?


Towneley Bat Walks. - Three walks are planned so far.

14th May - Towneley Woods Bat Walk.

A chance to check the maternity roost at Towneley Hall, a walk through the woods looking for Brown Long Eared Bats and Noctules. We'll finish by watching Daubenton's Bats feed on the ornamental pond in front of the Hall.

21st May - Riverside Bat Walk.

An opportunity to observe feeding Noctules and Pipistrelles. We'll finish the walk watching the Daubenton's Bats feeding over the Deer Pond

7th June - Bat walk and Moth Night.

Tying in with National Moth Night a chance to observe both the hunter and the hunted. A walk through Thanet Lee woods and a chance to hear feeding Natterer's Bats, Common and Soprano Pipistrelles. We'll finish the walk in Offshoots Community Garden where Towneley Ranger Graham Gavaghan will be running his moth traps.
